Latin American institutions expand artificial intelligence integration in education
Educational institutions and governments across Latin America are increasingly integrating artificial intelligence into curricula and professional training. In Mexico, the Public Center for AI Training has launched its second generation, aiming to certify 25,000 young people in technical skills like cybersecurity and data analysis by the end of 2026, supported by global companies including Google and Microsoft.
In Argentina, various initiatives are underway, including the Mendoza Aumentada program, which received recognition for integrating AI into secondary schools, and the International Education Congress in San Luis, which focuses on the impact of AI on pedagogy. Meanwhile, in Uruguay, the University of the Republic (Udelar) is hosting sessions on the ethical use of AI in healthcare services, emphasizing data protection.
Other regional developments include the Universidad de Las Américas hosting its 19th COMUNICADV advertising competition in Chile, and discussions in Sinaloa, Mexico, regarding the need for ethical guidelines to prevent academic plagiarism. In Costa Rica, reports indicate a resource gap between private and public schools regarding digital infrastructure and AI training for teachers.
