Universidad Metropolitana launches Venezuela's first technology district

The Universidad Metropolitana (Unimet) has introduced Venezuela's first technology district during the D-Future EdTech Summit 2026. The initiative aims to create an ecosystem involving universities, researchers, and the private sector to develop technological solutions and attract investment.

The project will span 95 hectares of land managed by the Unimet Foundation, providing dedicated spaces for research, innovation laboratories, and various activities. Luisa Pulido, president of the Unimet Foundation, stated the district is designed to put academia and businesses at the service of the community.

A primary goal of the initiative is to bridge educational gaps by extending technological tools to public schools. While the project is in its early stages, organizers are exploring collaborations with the Ministry of Science and Technology to seek financing for university incubators and improve digital infrastructure and connectivity in schools.
