Universidad Nacional Agraria launches third edition of soil management master's program

The Universidad Nacional Agraria (UNA) in Managua announced the third edition of its Master of Science in Integrated Soil Management in Tropical Environments (MISAT). The two‑year postgraduate program aims to train professionals with scientific and technical expertise for sustainable soil use, incorporating tools such as geographic information systems, remote sensing and geomatics. The launch, held in the university’s Sala Blanca Arrauz, was led by Edwin Alonso Serrano, director of the Area of Environmental Sciences and Climate Change, who highlighted the program’s role in addressing national environmental and productivity challenges. Faculty researcher Fernando José Mendoza Jara noted that MISAT includes a thesis component and has international academic recognition, having been developed in partnership with Central American institutions, including the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala.
