Universidad Nacional de Asunción faces digital sexual violence reports

The Archdiocese of Asunción has issued a statement expressing solidarity with those affected by recent reports of sexual violence and harassment in digital environments at the Universidad Nacional de Asunción.

The reported incidents include the non-consensual distribution of private images, the exposure of personal data, and the creation of sexual montages using artificial intelligence. The Archdiocese emphasized that responsibility lies with those who create, manipulate, or distribute such materials without consent, rather than with the victims.

In its message, the Archdiocese referenced religious teachings to highlight that digital tools can be used to violate human dignity and privacy. It specifically noted that artificial intelligence lacks moral conscience and cannot be used as an excuse to evade accountability for the real-world harm caused by manipulated imagery.
