Universidad Nacional de Asunción investigates student harassment reports
The Universidad Nacional de Asunción (UNA) has launched investigations following reports of harassment and privacy violations affecting students across various faculties. The Federation of Students of the Universidad Nacional de Asunción (Feuna) reported instances of digital violence, non-consensual sharing of images, sexualization, gender-based violence, and the manipulation of images using artificial intelligence.
In response, the university rectorate announced the formation of an institutional working group comprising university representatives and student members. The Legal Advisory and the Student Welfare Directorate will manage the reception, guidance, and monitoring of cases, with an emphasis on maintaining confidentiality and preventing re-victimization.
The Faculty of Medical Sciences (FCM-UNA) also issued a statement rejecting any actions that violate the dignity or privacy of individuals, warning that such behavior will not be tolerated and will face disciplinary measures. The university stated that cases involving potential crimes will be referred to the Public Ministry, the National Police, and the Ministry of Women.
