Universidad Nacional del Sur moves unvaccinated student to remote learning

The Universidad Nacional del Sur (UNS) in Bahía Blanca has transitioned a secondary school student to remote learning after his family failed to provide proof of compliance with the mandatory national vaccination schedule. The university stated that the measure follows a 60-day notice period provided to the family to regularize the student's health status.

Dr. Pablo Badr, dean of the Department of Health Sciences, emphasized that the policy is based on scientific evidence and community health regulations, asserting that vaccines are “safe, effective and prevent deaths.” The institution clarified that the goal is not necessarily the immediate completion of all doses, but rather the initiation of the regularization process through the health system.

The student's mother has denounced the measure, claiming it violates the minor's right to education. She expressed intentions to pursue legal action, citing a personal belief that vaccines are linked to autism—a claim that lacks scientific backing. The student, a 14-year-old, will continue his studies remotely to ensure his right to education is maintained while adhering to campus health protocols.
