Universidad Nacional to change academic calendar in 2027

The Universidad Nacional (UNA) will implement a new academic calendar starting in 2027. This change aims to consolidate academic activities within a single calendar year, moving away from the previous system where summer classes occurred between December and January.

Under the new structure, the summer cycle will run from January 4 to February 27, 2027, which will also include academic leveling processes. The first academic cycle is scheduled to begin on March 8 and conclude on July 13. Following a mid-year administrative recess from July 13 to July 17, the second cycle will commence on August 9 and end on November 27.

University leadership stated that the adjustment was requested by various faculties to better organize academic moments, including exams, results delivery, and support services. The modification is intended to benefit students regarding the organization of scholarships and university services.
