Universidad San Martín confirms volleyball season kickoff and addresses Aixa Vigil dispute

The Universidad San Martín de Porres (USMP) women's volleyball team has announced its opponent for the upcoming 'Gala Santa' event. The Peruvian club will face Argentina's Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata on October 10. The event will serve as the official presentation of USMP's renewed roster for the 2026-27 Peruvian Volleyball League season, which includes new signings such as Americans Kari Zumach and Emily Zinger, Dominican Yanlis Féliz, and Peruvian María López Torres.

Separately, USMP sports manager Yudy Balcázar addressed the ongoing controversy involving player Aixa Vigil. Regarding the legal and ethical disputes following Vigil's move to Universitario de Deportes, Balcázar stated that the matter is currently in the hands of lawyers and that she would not engage in further public polemics. This follows public criticism from Vigil's father regarding the situation.
