Universidad San Sebastián launches advanced simulation center for patient safety

The Link USS Advanced Simulation Center at Universidad San Sebastián is focusing on training healthcare teams to improve patient safety through high-complexity clinical and surgical simulations. This initiative addresses concerns raised by the World Health Organization, which estimates that approximately one in ten patients suffers harm during healthcare delivery, contributing to over three million deaths annually.

Located at the Bellavista campus, the center features ten advanced simulation environments where medical professionals can practice decision-making and crisis management in controlled settings. During its first year, the center hosted 1,210 participants, 60% of whom were specialists in fields such as anesthesiology, pediatrics, intensive care, and surgery. The program also includes nurses and midwives, aiming to strengthen communication and leadership skills before professionals face real-world critical events.
