Universidad San Sebastián launches Nanai Program for chronic pain

The Nanai Program, an interdisciplinary community outreach project by Universidad San Sebastián, has been launched to support individuals living with non-oncological chronic pain in the Los Ríos Region of Chile.

Led by Kinesiology academic Rommy Bartholomaus, the initiative was developed in collaboration with the Valdivia Fibromyalgia Association and the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation team at the Valdivia Base Hospital. The program addresses significant challenges faced by patients, including generalized pain, sleep disturbances, and difficulties performing daily activities.

The multidisciplinary approach involves students from Kinesiology, Psychology, Nutrition and Dietetics, and Chemistry. Services include clinical and functional evaluations, therapeutic exercise, psychoeducational support, nutritional education, safe medication guidance, orofacial pain management, and support for entrepreneurship initiatives.
