Universidad Sergio Arboleda updates journalism curriculum and launches gaming festival

Universidad Sergio Arboleda is implementing several academic and extracurricular updates. The university's School of Communication Sciences and Design has updated its Social Communication and Journalism program to focus on digital media. The revised curriculum, now titled Social Communication and Digital Journalism, reduces the program duration from nine to eight semesters and consists of 128 academic credits.

Vice Dean Mario Cañate Barreneche stated that the update is a response to the transformation of the profession, emphasizing that modern communicators must master digital languages, interpret data, and produce content for multiple platforms.

Additionally, the university is hosting the fourth edition of the Gamer School Fest. This video game competition, featuring titles such as Fall Guys and Rocket League, is designed for tenth and eleventh-grade students. Participants can compete for prizes, including academic scholarships for undergraduate programs at the university. Rector Jorge Noguera Calderón noted that the event reflects a commitment to technological development and innovation.
