Universidad Siglo 21 to award María Corina Machado Honoris Causa

Universidad Siglo 21 has announced it will award María Corina Machado the title of Doctor Honoris Causa, the institution's highest academic distinction. The recognition is scheduled to be presented on November 5 during the 9th International Innova Educa 21 Congress at the Córdoba Campus. Machado will participate in the ceremony virtually.

Machado, a Venezuelan political leader and founder of the Vente Venezuela party, has a career spanning civic participation and electoral observation through the organization Súmate. The university cited her commitment to human rights, fundamental freedoms, and democratic transition as the basis for the honor. Her work was previously recognized with the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts regarding democratic rights and a peaceful transition in Venezuela.
