Universidad Veracruzana appoints new head of sports department

The Universidad Veracruzana has undergone significant administrative changes, including the appointment of Amayrani Alonso Vega as the new head of the Dirección de Actividades Deportivas (DADUV). Vega succeeds Luis Gerardo Cortés Sosa.

Questions have been raised regarding the speed of Vega’s professional ascent, noting her transition from a regional coordination role in May to the directorship in October. While the university highlights her technical expertise in physical training and Paralympic sports, critics point to a lack of documented experience in university management, resource administration, or regional coordination.

There are unverified allegations within the university community suggesting the appointment may be linked to Academic Secretary Arturo Aguilar Ye. The university administration has not yet released the specific criteria or the professional file used to justify the designation.
