Universidad Veracruzana hosts symposium on biology and gender diversity

The Faculty of Biology at the Universidad Veracruzana has launched the symposium ‘Biologías disidentes: Ciencia, identidades y diversidad sexogenérica’ (Dissident Biologies: Science, Identities, and Sexogenic Diversity). The event, which runs until September 24, aims to examine the connections between biological diversity and human expressions of sex, gender, and identity.

During the opening session, Faculty Director Pascual Linares Márquez noted that biological science allows for the recognition of various forms of life and development, making it a pertinent field to address identity and gender. The program includes lectures on scientific research and artistic expressions related to sexogenic diversity. Academic Elvira Morgado Viveros also participated, emphasizing the importance of clarifying concepts such as sex, gender, and sexogenic identity.
