Universidad Veracruzana reports growth in students and infrastructure

Rector Martín Aguilar Sánchez presented the 2025-2026 First Labor Report to the General University Council of the Universidad Veracruzana (UV). During this period, the institution served 96,042 students across 387 educational programs.

Key developments include the addition of 522 undergraduate and 113 postgraduate spots, along with the incorporation of five new educational programs. The university is also advancing a new educational model titled ‘Formación de Excelencia’, which involved participation from over 1,800 academics, students, and community members.

In terms of research and infrastructure, the UV reported 1,144 academic staff members within the National System of Researchers and the opening of new research centers in Orizaba-Córdoba and Coatzacoalcos-Minatitlán. Infrastructure investments included the reprogramming of over 202 million pesos for various projects, such as the USBI Minatitlán and the Nursing building in Poza Rica. Additionally, the university implemented inclusion policies, reserving 793 spots for vulnerable groups and expanding its university dining services to 13 locations.
