Universidad Veracruzana to end online admission exams for high-demand majors in 2027
The Universidad Veracruzana (UV) will permanently eliminate online admission exams for its most high-demand undergraduate programs starting in 2027. Rector Martín Aguilar Sánchez announced that students applying to competitive faculties, such as Medicine, Law, and Pedagogy, will be required to take entrance exams in person.
The decision follows the detection of irregularities and fraudulent practices during virtual evaluations. Specifically, the university noted instances where applicants attempted to use unauthorized technological tools or receive external assistance. In one notable incident, 77 applicants were caught taking the exam together from a single location in Chiapas.
Data from the General Directorate of School Administration indicates that 88 applicants had their registrations canceled during the 2025 and 2026 admission processes due to various irregularities. While the online format will be maintained for programs with lower demand where supervision is more manageable, the shift to in-person testing for major programs aims to ensure transparency and the integrity of selection results.
