Universidad Veracruzana welcomes 2,800 new students in Orizaba-Córdoba
The Universidad Veracruzana (UV) in the Orizaba – Córdoba region is beginning the 2026–2027 academic cycle, welcoming 2,800 new students. Vice-rector Mario Alberto Guapillo Vargas reported that induction sessions have already been held to familiarize students with the campus and academic dynamics.
Medicine remains the most requested program, with over 1,500 annual applications. To meet demand, the university has expanded its medical surgeon program in Córdoba and offers sections in Ciudad Mendoza. Other high-demand fields include Nursing, Law, Architecture, Biological Chemistry, and various Engineering disciplines.
For students who did not secure a spot in their first choice, the university will publish available vacancies in other programs on August 19. Additionally, the UV is working on a new curriculum for the Faculty of Biological and Agricultural Sciences in Peñuela and continues to promote virtual education.
