Universidade da Beira Interior partners with IFPN to preserve Fernando Paulouro Neves's legacy
The Universidade da Beira Interior (UBI) and the Instituto Fernando Paulouro Neves (IFPN) have established a cooperation protocol to preserve and promote the legacy of journalist and writer Fernando Paulouro Neves. The agreement, formalized during the closing of the first Fórum do Pensamento Novo, aims to foster academic, cultural, and educational initiatives.
A key component of this partnership is the creation of a scholarship program to support master's and doctoral students researching the journalistic and literary work of Neves. These scholarships will be available to students from UBI or any other higher education institution in Portugal or abroad, provided they are enrolled in a graduate program and are proficient in the Portuguese language. The Institute is currently seeking sponsors to fund these grants, with the first call for applications expected to be published on January 31, the anniversary of Neves's birth. The goal is for the scholarships to be implemented for the 2027/2028 academic year.
The collaboration will also include joint lectures, symposia, research projects, and the shared use of university spaces to strengthen the region's connection to culture, science, and innovation.
