Universidade de Coimbra partners with Active Space Technologies to strengthen aerospace education

The University of Coimbra (UC) and Portuguese engineering firm Active Space Technologies have signed a three‑year strategic partnership. The agreement links UC’s Faculty of Science and Technology (FCTUC) with the company to boost teaching, research and development in aerospace, aeronautics, defence and related industrial sectors.

Key elements include support for a new Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, expanded internship and summer‑placement opportunities, joint master’s theses and doctoral projects, and collaborative research using university laboratories. Active Space Technologies engineers will take part in lectures, seminars and workshops, while the partnership also foresees executive training, short‑duration courses and micro‑credentials for company staff.

The collaboration aims to deepen ties between academia and high‑technology industry, enhance student employability, and foster joint innovation projects at national and international levels.
