Universidade Politécnica de Beja launches cross-border tourism course
The Universidade Politécnica de Beja (UPBeja) has signed a cooperation agreement with Turismo de Portugal to launch a Professional Higher Technical Course (CTeSP) in Border and Eurocity Tourism. The program is scheduled to begin in the 2026-2027 academic year.
Classes will be held at the Escola de Hotelaria e Turismo de Vila Real de Santo António. The curriculum is designed to serve the Eurocidade Guadiana cross-border territory, which includes the municipalities of Vila Real de Santo António, Castro Marim, Alcoutim, and Tavira in the Algarve, as well as Mértola, Serpa, Moura, and Barrancos in the Alentejo region.
UPBeja stated that the initiative aims to align higher education with regional economic needs and leverage the strategic location of the border. The course intends to train specialized professionals to support cross-border economic activities and cooperation between Portugal and Spain.
