Università Agraria responds to Torre di Chia controversies
The Università Agraria has issued a formal response to recent controversies surrounding the management and ownership of the Torre di Chia in Soriano nel Cimino. Addressing public debate, the institution emphasized the distinction between opinion and fact regarding the site's administration and ticketing.
Regarding allegations that the surrounding woods were used as a wedding venue, the University stated that no civil or religious weddings have taken place there. They clarified that while some visitors performed symbolic Celtic-inspired rituals without payment, the site is not being used as a commercial wedding location. The institution noted that while the idea of hosting civil ceremonies within the Tower was discussed as a potential opportunity in 2018, current plans focus on developing a cultural path and a distributed museum.
The University also addressed legal disputes concerning property ownership. They maintained that they initiated legal action in 2021 after learning of a sale, having engaged in discussions with the new owner's legal representatives in May of that year, prior to seeking judicial intervention.
