Università Cattolica hosts Seveso 2076 exhibition in Milan

The Università Cattolica in Milan has inaugurated ‘Seveso 2076’, an exhibition marking fifty years since the Icmesa industrial disaster. Running until October 31, the exhibition moves beyond historical commemoration to focus on the future of environmental protection, scientific research, and industrial safety.

The exhibition is organized by the Fondazione Lombardia per l’Ambiente in collaboration with Regione Lombardia, ARPA Lombardia, Fondazione Cariplo, and FederFarma Lombardia. It is structured into five thematic sections covering social mobilization, the evolution of European safety regulations—specifically the ‘Seveso Directive’—the development of green chemistry, and territorial regeneration.

A central element of the display is the transformation of the affected area into the Bosco delle Querce, a regional park that has undergone successful remediation and recently received the European Heritage Brand recognition. The exhibition also features a RAI documentary titled ‘La Nube’ and direct testimonies from scientific and civil figures regarding the legacy of the dioxin leak.
