Università Cattolica research explores Renewable Energy Communities

Six faculties of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore have completed a three-year research project titled ‘CER-CARE – Renewable Energy Communities between Care and Research: Approaches and Tools for Resilience and Equity’. The study, presented in Castel Gandolfo, examines the nature and impact of Renewable Energy Communities (RECs) as tools for both technological and social innovation.

The research aims to address energy inequalities and the impacts of the climate crisis through an interdisciplinary lens. University Rector Elena Beccalli noted that the project demonstrates the institution's mission to generate dialogue between disciplines to tackle contemporary global issues.

Additionally, Sister Alessandra Smerelli, prefect of the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development, emphasized the concept of ‘integral ecology,’ which involves caring for both the planet and human relationships to address systemic inequalities.
