Université Jean Monnet researchers discuss design and sustainability

During the Nuit du Design held in Saint-Étienne on September 24 and 25, 2026, as part of France Design Week, researchers from the Chaire Transition Durable at Université Jean Monnet explored the role of design in resource renewal.

Marie Schill and Clara Calaudi, researchers from the IAE de Saint-Étienne and the Coactis laboratory, provided scientific insights into how design can reveal, preserve, or transform resources. Their work focuses on consumer behavior and the adoption of sustainable practices, such as recycling, reuse, and the development of new products. The research aims to identify the drivers and barriers that influence how consumers transition toward more responsible consumption and value creation.
