Université Joseph-Ki-Zerbo welcomes new students for 2026-2027 academic year
Université Joseph-Ki-Zerbo (UJKZ) held a welcoming ceremony on October 8, 2026, for new students entering the 2026-2027 academic year. The event aimed to provide guidance and integrate newcomers into the university community.
During the ceremony, UJKZ President Professor Antoine Béré encouraged students to embrace curiosity, autonomy, and engagement. He emphasized that university is a space for discovery and debate, urging students to participate in associative, sporting, and cultural activities. Béré also highlighted the importance of civic responsibility, patriotism, and contributing to national development within the current Burkinabè context.
Professor Jacques Nanema, head of the University Pedagogy Center, advised students to become active participants in their own training. He cautioned against “intellectual laziness” and encouraged students to utilize libraries, conduct research, and engage in dialogue with faculty and peers rather than relying solely on classroom instruction.
