Université libre de Bruxelles announces new research projects and academic seminars

Several academic events and research milestones have been announced at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB).

On September 25, 2026, CReA-Patrimoine and the Histar doctoral school will host a study day at the ULB Solbosch campus focused on isotopic analysis in archaeometry. The event will feature specialists from various European institutions discussing the applications and limitations of isotopic methods in archaeological research.

In the field of political science, Arthur Ghins has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant for the DEMPROP project. This research aims to examine how the perception of propaganda has shifted from being viewed as a legitimate tool for democratic mobilization to being considered a threat to democracy. The study will analyze historical relationships between propaganda and democracy in Europe, Russia, and the United States from the late 19th century through the 1960s.

Additionally, a research seminar is scheduled for October 14, 2026, at the ULB Institute of European Studies. The seminar will address international economic law in the context of the transition away from fossil fuels, exploring how global trade, investment, and financial regimes influence fossil fuel dependency.
