Università Pegaso hosts conference on digital legacy and AI
The Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU Digital Legacy at Università Pegaso is hosting a conference in Rome on September 30 and October 1 to address the legal, ethical, and social implications of digital legacies. The event explores questions regarding the inheritance of digital assets, such as email accounts, cloud documents, and social media profiles, as well as the emergence of “digital resurrection” through AI.
Case studies include the use of AI in an Arizona court to recreate the face and voice of Christopher Pelkey for a victim impact statement, and the commercial use of interactive avatars in China created from deceased individuals' data. The multidisciplinary conference will feature jurists, philosophers, economists, and technology specialists to discuss the boundaries of digital identity and inheritance.
