Universitario de Deportes takes Torneo Clausura lead after derby win

Universitario de Deportes has taken the lead in the Peruvian Torneo Clausura following a 2-1 victory over Alianza Lima in the recent derby. The win, secured by a last-minute goal from Lisandro Alzugaray, moves the team led by Héctor Cúper to the top of the standings with 20 points, overtaking Deportivo Garcilaso.

However, the match was overshadowed by significant controversy regarding the treatment of the Universitario delegation at the Alejandro Villanueva Stadium. Universitario administrator Franco Velazco reported that club officials were subjected to unprofessional treatment, including being confined to the locker rooms for three hours and facing restricted access to VIP areas. The club has filed formal complaints with the Peruvian Professional Football League and the Prosecutor's Office for Crime Prevention regarding these incidents.

In terms of upcoming fixtures, Alianza Lima is scheduled to face ADT on September 18 as they attempt to recover from their recent loss, while Universitario prepares to face Deportivo Garcilaso on September 19.
