Universitario de Deportes appoints Fabián Bustos as new head coach

Universitario de Deportes has officially entered a new era following the appointment of Fabián Bustos as the club's new head coach. Bustos was presented this Thursday with the primary objective of competing for the Torneo Clausura to maintain the team's pursuit of a national four-time championship.

During the presentation, provisional administrator Franco Velazco addressed the recent departure of former coach Héctor Cúper. Velazco declined to disclose specific reasons for the termination of Cúper's contract, stating that many details will be kept “reserved.” He expressed gratitude to the Argentine strategist for his professionalism and personal conduct during his tenure.

Velazco also dismissed rumors circulating on social media regarding player dissatisfaction with Cúper's leadership. He emphasized that the club's focus must remain on the upcoming tournament and the championship goals rather than past speculation.
