Universitas Airlangga explores global vaccine research collaborations

Universitas Airlangga (Unair) is exploring opportunities for international vaccine research collaboration and technology transfer. This initiative was discussed during the Vaccine World Asia Congress-Southeast Asia and Biologics World Southeast Asia 2026.

Laura Navika Yamani, Secretary of Unair’s Institute of Tropical Diseases, stated that regional cooperation is essential to expand knowledge exchange, increase research capacity, and reduce dependence on specific entities for technological mastery. The goal is to prevent monopolies and build synergy to face future epidemic or pandemic threats.

The forum serves to map challenges faced by various nations and study best practices among representatives from Indonesia, India, Malaysia, and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI). Unair aims to update its understanding of vaccine technology developments, including manufacturing, clinical trials, and regulations.
