Universitas Andalas students introduce GiziCerdas nutrition monitoring technology

Students from the Computer Engineering Student Association (Himatekom) at Universitas Andalas (Unand) have introduced GiziCerdas, a technological innovation designed to monitor child growth and nutritional status. The system was presented during the 70th anniversary celebrations of Universitas Andalas in Padang.

GiziCerdas consists of an integrated measurement device and a data management application. The hardware uses sensors to automatically measure a child's height and weight when they stand on the device. This data is then transmitted to the GiziCerdas application, which serves as a central hub for managing growth records and history.

The system processes anthropometric data by calculating growth indicators as Z-scores based on World Health Organization (WHO) standards. This allows users to move beyond raw numbers to gain meaningful information regarding a child's nutritional condition and developmental progress.
