Universitas Brawijaya student hospitalized after falling from sixth floor

A 19-year-old student, identified by the initials RR, is in critical condition after reportedly falling from the sixth floor of a building at Universitas Brawijaya (UB) in Malang on Thursday morning.

The incident occurred around 09:00 WIB at the Faculty of Bio-Industry, Agriculture, and Forestry (FBiPK) building. Initial reports suggest the student, a third-semester medical student from the 2025 cohort, may have fallen after passing through a window of an empty classroom.

Polresta Malang Kota is currently investigating the chronology and potential motives behind the incident, including the possibility of a suicide attempt. The victim was evacuated to the Saiful Anwar Hospital (RSSA) Malang, where they are receiving intensive care in the ICU for broken bones in the legs and arms. Police are coordinating with the university to implement preventive measures to avoid similar occurrences.
