Universitas Indonesia (UI) is hosting the UI Innovation Festival 2026 at Gandaria City, Jakarta, to facilitate the transition of academic research from laboratories to commercial products and public services. The event, held on October 2-3, 2026, aims to strengthen technology downstreaming, innovation, and commercialization through the university’s Science Techno Park and its ‘Prime Step’ program.

According to Chairul Hudaya, Director of High-Impact Innovation and Research at UI, the festival serves as a platform to connect researchers with industry partners and potential users. The 2026 edition features 302 participants and 20 exhibitors from UI startups and partners. UI reported producing 40 startups through Prime Step funding in 2026, following a previous year where 55 intellectual property licenses were issued to startups and industry.
