Academic research from Universitas Islam Negeri Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh explores various facets of English language education and pedagogy in the Aceh region.

Studies indicate that pre-service teachers experience tension between English-only training and the practical use of Indonesian and Acehnese as scaffolding tools for student comprehension. Additionally, research into curriculum transitions shows that teachers adapting to the Kurikulum Merdeka face challenges regarding administrative demands and material development, despite the curriculum's increased flexibility.

Regarding vocabulary acquisition, findings suggest that reading webtoons can serve as an effective supplementary tool for English learners, with visual elements aiding comprehension. Furthermore, local English courses in Aceh, such as Bright English Academy and Joy Course, utilize different memorization strategies, ranging from daily word lists to structured repetition methods, to equip students with language skills.
