Universitas Islam Negeri Ar‑Raniry in Banda Aceh releases two theses on Islamic law and finance
Two recent academic theses from Universitas Islam Negeri Ar‑Raniry in Banda Aceh examine the application of Islamic law in the Aceh region.
Salsabila Ulfah’s 2026 thesis analyses the principle of justice in gender‑based differences in the practice of hibah (gift‑giving) in the Kutaraja district. The study finds that local adat (hareuta peunulang) favours greater economic protection for daughters, while normative Islamic law stresses equal treatment and limits gifts to one‑third of a person’s wealth. The author recommends harmonising adat, Islamic, and national law to ensure just and harmonious family practices.
Nurulia Aurina’s 2024 thesis investigates the factors influencing customers’ decisions to use services of Pegadaian Syariah Keutapang in Aceh Besar. Based on a survey of 97 respondents and multiple regression analysis, the research shows that customers’ knowledge of the service, promotional activities, and perceived service quality each have a significant positive impact on their decision to use the Sharia pawnshop.
