Universitas Terbuka targets one million students by 2028

Universitas Terbuka (UT) is implementing a ‘Green Campus Digital’ concept, a transformation that integrates digital technology, distance learning systems, and environmental resource efficiency. This initiative recently earned the university the Green Economy Award from detikcom.

During a recent orientation for 2,578 new students in Jakarta, the university emphasized the importance of digital ethics, integrity, and the self-discipline required for distance learning. The event also included the distribution of tree seedlings to promote environmental awareness.

As part of its 42nd anniversary celebrations, UT has set a target to serve one million students by 2028. The university currently serves 856,444 students. Rector Ali Muktiyanto stated that this expansion aims to fulfill UT's mission of providing flexible, technology-based higher education that is accessible regardless of time or location.
