Universitat de Barcelona investigates cyberattack on its systems

The Universitat de Barcelona (UB) is investigating a recent cyberattack detected across several of its systems. In response, the institution has activated security protocols, including the renewal of access credentials and the temporary suspension of certain web pages and services while the investigation continues.

The university is working alongside the Agència de Ciberseguretat de Catalunya and the Consorci de Serveis Universitaris de Catalunya (CSUC) to determine the scope of the incident and whether sensitive information—including personal data of students, faculty, and staff, as well as internal research and administrative data—has been exposed. While the UB has not yet confirmed a data breach, containment and monitoring measures are currently in effect.
