Universitatea Craiova eyes Champions League and secures Adrian Rus

Romanian club Universitatea Craiova is preparing for a season it hopes will mark a historic push into the Champions League group stage. Owner Mihai Rotaru told a podcast that the club would love to meet top European sides, saying, “Am vrea să jucăm cu Inter Milano … și, de asemenea, PSG, Bayern München, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Arsenal și Galatasaray” if they qualify.

Club president Sorin Cârțu highlighted the importance of keeping defender Adrian Rus, stating, “Se vor face şi transferuri, dar prelungirea lui Rus e cel mai bun transfer.” The board also discussed potential summer signings, including midfielder Jurica Pršić, though Rotaru admitted the deal is unlikely. These moves aim to strengthen the squad for domestic competition and a possible European campaign.
