Universitatea Craiova rejects €2.2m MLS offer, eyes €3m move to Toulouse for midfielder Anzor Mekvabishvili

Romanian club Universitatea Craiova turned down a €2.2 million transfer proposal from MLS side Chicago Fire for their Georgian midfielder Anzor Mekvabishvili. Owner Mihai Rotaru said the club will keep the 25‑year‑old, who is under contract until 2028, as it focuses on its UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign.

A separate offer of €3 million has come from French Ligue 1 team Toulouse. Rotaru has also rejected the earlier MLS offer and indicated that any departure will only be considered after the club completes its European preliminaries. Mekvabishvili, valued at roughly €2 million on transfer‑market sites, has been a key player for Craiova in recent domestic and continental matches.
