Universitatea Craiova owner targets 50 million euro budget by 2036

Universitatea Craiova owner Mihai Rotaru has announced an ambitious long-term financial strategy to increase the club's budget to 30 million euros within five years and 50 million euros by 2036. This plan follows the club's recent success in the Romanian championship and its qualification into the Europa League play-offs.

Following a victory against KuPS, the club has secured significant financial backing from UEFA, which could reach up to 10 million euros depending on their progress in European competitions. Rotaru indicated that the club is currently in negotiations to acquire two to three additional players to strengthen the squad.

On the pitch, the team recently played to a 1-1 draw against Oțelul Galați in the SuperLiga. The match was marked by an early red card for Alexandru Crețu, forcing the team to play with ten men for much of the game. The club now prepares for a crucial Europa League play-off tie against Ararat-Armenia, where a win would secure a place in the Europa League group stages.
