Universitatea Craiova defends player amid fan abuse and heavy schedule

Universitatea Craiova is facing a challenging period marked by internal tension and a demanding schedule. The club recently issued a strong statement defending player Ștefan Baiaram after he was subjected to booing and verbal abuse by fans following a Europa League qualifying match against Ararat-Armenia. The club emphasized that such behavior does not represent its values and noted that several other players have faced similar treatment in the past.

On the pitch, the team is preparing for a SuperLiga match against FC Voluntari. Although Craiova requested a postponement to rest players ahead of their decisive second leg in Armenia, FC Voluntari refused the request. Coach Filipe Coelho expressed a desire to focus on the upcoming league match despite the heavy workload.

Following a 1-1 draw in the first leg against Ararat-Armenia, Craiova travels to Yerevan for a crucial match that could secure their place in the UEFA Europa League group stages. The squad will be without defender Adrian Rus due to suspension.
