Universities highlight AI's role in student accommodation and curriculum reform

A new Higher Education Policy Institute (HEPI) report argues that, even as artificial intelligence reshapes teaching, the residential university experience remains essential for student confidence, belonging and lifelong personal growth. The report stresses that on‑campus living provides social and developmental benefits that cannot be replicated online.

A separate study published in Frontiers in Education by a University of Manchester researcher warns that universities are lagging behind AI‑driven workplace changes. It calls for curricula to shift focus from detecting AI‑generated content to building critical AI literacy, including ethical judgment, effective communication and adaptability, and to integrate these skills across existing modules rather than creating separate AI courses.
