Universities hold workshops on intellectual property and copyright

Bishop Stuart University (BSU) in Uganda hosted a National Universities Copyright and Authorship Workshop on August 11, 2026. Conducted by the Uganda Reproduction Rights Organisation under the Uganda Registration Services Bureau, the event focused on the Copyright and Neighbouring Rights (Amendment) Act, 2026. The workshop addressed implications for higher education, research, scholarly publishing, and the commercialization of academic works.

Separately, Benguet State University (BSU) in the Philippines held a seminar on August 7, 2026, regarding Intellectual Property (IP) Management, Technology Transfer, and Creative Work. Led by the university’s Intellectual Property Management Office, the seminar covered board-approved policies on technology transfer, instructional material development, and protocols for spin-off creation to protect the institution's intellectual assets.
