Universities in Bangladesh observe World Egg Day and Mental Health Day

Sylhet Agricultural University (SAU) observed World Egg Day 2026 with a campus rally and a seminar titled “Nutrition in Eggs, Strength in Eggs, Eggs for Disease Prevention.” Following the rally, eggs were distributed to underprivileged children in the Baluchar area. During the seminar, SAU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Safi Ullah Mazumder emphasized that eggs are an accessible and vital source of animal protein necessary for combating malnutrition and building a healthy nation, particularly for children, students, and pregnant women.

Separately, Jagannath University (JU) marked World Mental Health Day 2026 with a seminar organized by the Department of Psychology. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Roye Uchit Uddin identified housing shortages and limited medical services as primary drivers of stress and frustration among students. He noted that while psychological departments exist in many universities, there is a lack of professional recognition and effective mental health infrastructure in Bangladesh compared to Western nations. He called for practical steps to address these challenges to ensure student well-being.
