Universities in Charlotte report enrollment growth and new student arrivals

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte has reported record-breaking enrollment for the third consecutive year, reaching 33,045 students for the fall 2026 semester. This growth is driven by a record first-year class of 5,165 students and a transfer class of 3,154. The university noted a 21% increase in online enrollment, with its online bachelor’s programs seeing a 66% growth.

Meanwhile, Queens University of Charlotte welcomed its Class of 2030, with students arriving from 38 states and international locations including Australia. Acting President and CEO Jesse Cureton noted that this incoming class arrives as the institution progresses toward a merger with Elon University, which is expected to expand academic and global opportunities for students.
