Universities in Costa Rica and Argentina launch waste collection campaigns

Educational institutions in Costa Rica and Argentina are launching waste collection campaigns to promote environmental sustainability and responsible disposal of various materials.

The University of Costa Rica (UCR), Occidente Campus, will hold an integrated waste collection drive in Grecia on September 28 and in San Ramón on September 29. The initiative aims to facilitate the proper disposal of materials that lack traditional recycling routes, including paper, cardboard, glass, metals, plastics, batteries, and electronic devices such as computers, cell phones, and televisions.

In San Juan, Argentina, the Dr. Mariano Moreno University Central College, part of the National University of San Juan, is conducting an electronic waste (RAEE) collection campaign. Scheduled for October 3, 2026, the event is supported by the San Juan Government's Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development. The campaign accepts small to medium-sized electronic items, including audio equipment, cameras, consoles, computers, and mobile devices, which will be treated at the San Juan Environmental Technology Park.
