Universities in Erfurt and Saxony-Anhalt report rising enrollment

Higher education institutions in central Germany are reporting significant enrollment figures for the new semester. In Erfurt, the private Health and Medical University (HMU) has seen its student body grow tenfold since its launch in April 2023, now exceeding 1,000 medical students despite monthly tuition fees of 1,500 euros.

In Saxony-Anhalt, at least 11,000 students are beginning new studies across the state's universities. The Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg has recorded nearly 4,000 new enrollments, while the Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg reports approximately 3,000 students, bringing its total to over 13,100 and marking an increase in international attractiveness. The Hochschule Anhalt also noted a nearly 20 percent increase in new students compared to the previous year.
