Universities in Ho Chi Minh City honor 2026 admission valedictorians

Major universities under the Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City system have celebrated their 2026-2027 academic year opening ceremonies, highlighting top-performing incoming students.

At the University of Information Technology (UIT), Do Phu Quang was named the top student with an admission score of 108.33, choosing to specialize in Artificial Intelligence. The university reported a total of 2,338 new students, including 64 students with national or international awards, such as a bronze medal in the 2026 International AI Olympiad. UIT is also expanding its international reach by offering five English-taught programs and recruiting students from Southeast Asia.

At the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, four valedictorians were honored, including Vo Gia Thinh. Thinh achieved a dual valedictorian status through both the comprehensive admission method and the competency assessment exam, earning a perfect score in mathematics. He plans to study Computer Science and Engineering, focusing on STEM fields.
