Universities in Honduras and Nicaragua announce academic and historical updates
The Rector of the National Autonomous University of Honduras (UNAH), Odir Fernández, has announced that the third academic period (III PAC) will officially begin on September 16. To support student mobility, the university is implementing a new transportation route covering Nueva Suyapa, Residencial Suyapita, and surrounding areas. Fernández noted that the external contracting process for these services is being managed transparently through the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
In Honduras, the university administration reported that enrollment projections for the upcoming cycle are expected to reach historic highs, surpassing records from the last six years. Fernández also addressed reports of intimidation attempts aimed at sabotaging university transport services, stating that the administration would not yield to such pressures.
In Nicaragua, the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN-Managua) held a forum titled ‘San Jacinto: Anti-imperialist feat, dignity and historical continuity in the defense of National Sovereignty.’ The event brought together students and faculty from various departments to discuss the historical significance of the 1856 Battle of San Jacinto and its role in Nicaraguan national identity.
