Universities in South Korea and Japan launch integrated generative AI platforms
Universities in South Korea and Japan are implementing comprehensive generative AI platforms to transform educational environments.
Hankyong National University in South Korea has launched ‘Multi AI’, an integrated platform providing access to 44 different AI models, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Midjourney, and Perplexity. The initiative aims to create an ‘AI Native Campus’ by ensuring all students and staff have equal access to advanced tools, moving away from restricted access for only a few. The university plans to manage the rollout through key performance indicators such as usage rates and educational participation.
Digital Hollywood University in Japan has introduced a university-wide AI infrastructure and a new ‘Campus Portal’. This system allows students and faculty to utilize generative AI across various domains, including text, image, video, and music, without needing individual subscriptions. The platform features AI Teaching Assistants (TAs) tailored to specific courses to support student learning processes. Notably, the system is designed to protect privacy, ensuring that personal dialogue histories remain accessible only to the individual students, while the university only tracks usage metrics for management purposes.
